"Empresa
de Radiodifusion Horizonte-Chiclayo E.I.R.L.", Radio Horizonte,
was founded by Enrique Becerra Rojas, on March 1, 1984.
The medium wave outlet is licensed with callsign OCX1T to
transmit on 770kHz, but during my stay in Chiclayo, in late
December 1994, I noticed that it was exactly not on the
assigned frequency but on 768.9kHz.
The medium wave outlet is equipped with a "Electrónica
Reserva" brand transmitter (3kW) and a 1/4 wave omnidirectional
vertical antenna (97 meters high above the ground).
The
shortwave outlet
began its regular transmission in July 1992. As far as I
remember, it had first appeared on 4331.1 kHz, then moved
up to 4509.2 kHz, and slightly moved down to 4505.1 kHz.
After having remained on 4505.1 kHz (nominal frequency 4505
kHz) for some years, Radio Horizonte was on shortwave 4534.05
kHz for some months after November 1997.
"Electrónica
Reserva" is owned and managed by Enrique Becerra
Rojas, the owner and general manager of Radio Horizonte.
He also built and sold some transmitters to the following
provincial stations: Radio Sudamerica (5523.4 kHz),
Radio Bambamarca "Frecuencia Lider" (4419 kHz), Radio
Lider del Norte (5338.9 kHz), Radio Cajamarca (1370
kHz), Radio La Inmaculada (5305 kHz), and so on.

The
shortwave outlet is equipped with a "Electrónica Reserva"
brand transmitter (0.5kW) and a 1/2 wave dipole antenna (15
meters high above the ground).
The shortwave transmitter was formerly used for the shortwave
transmission of Radio El Puerto in Pacasmayo, which also operated
on 1500 kHz medium wave.
The
transmitting plant is located about 3.5 km west from studio:
Fund. Santa Maria, San Carlos, Distrito Jose Leonardo, Chiclayo
(Longitude 79-51-31 West and Latitude 06-47-24 South).
Studio and transmitting plant are connected by fixed telephone
cable.
As of December 1994, Radio Horizonte, "la emisora del pueblo",
broadcast at 0800-0500 daily on medium wave, and simulcast
on shortwave at 0900-1400v and 0000-0500 daily.
