Re: [IRCA] KRKO upgrade

Usual suspects long time ago concocted myth re 30K/Birds croaked during
raging blizzard by whacking tower. Unfortunately, either passing shaman - out for
bucolic stroll in raging blizzard - resurected them or Waste Management hauled
off 30K/Carcasses - before storm subsided. site personnel found no evidence to
support this bullshale, extensively reviewed in, of all places, Radio World.

Story shot fulla holes. Since when do 30K/Birds take flight inna mid-blizzard?

Myth-pimps won't answer that simple question, among many.

Recall destructive insanity visited upon WKFD 1370, ca. '91, folllowing swamp
tower storm collapse? Swamp won, 'KFD lost.

Not according to RI Coastal Resources Management Council, under whose gentle
hatchet we so blissfully dwelt. Towers are a Bad Thing, they frighten newts,
slugs, and leeches.

No radio towers in swamps, say they.

Doubtless, WPRO & WHJJ took great pains to ensure towers remained upright.

Coastal Council Diktat: If tower collapses, it's Gaia's will. Once down,
forever down. Went through this with dock on Salt Pond. Before Hurricane Bob's
winds subsided, friend K. and I shored up dock pilings & cribs. Those whose docks
collapsed, and who naively requested permission to rebuild were told: "No, no
no! You're dock collapsed because Nature wants it down. No rebuilding!"

Such nice, rational, folk. Nice to see they made it outa the back wards.

                                                                     z
