If the FCC were to follow the same procedure as they have ---with the AM extended band and HDTV -- EVERY daytimer or AM station with less than 1 KW fulltime --- would indeedmove to a NEW FM band.    The AM stations would get a NEW FM channel and have a 5 year period move.  They could continue to broadcast for that five year period on both AM and FM channels.   At the end of the five years -- the AM license is deleted.   They can't sell the AM channel.   Give them an extra 3 years to begin to broadcast on FM.  Any idiot that can't get on the air within an 8 year period -- needs to be deleted.    Then make 1 KW the MINIMUM AM power level.  No 100 watts or 131 watts or 775 watts.    Keep the AM band CLEAN by increasing the protection levels -- .
