I'm used to digging for stuff.  Try to find movie posters sometime for B movies from the 1940s!  I did a Google search, and found obsolete data from the Baseball America web site which referenced WSMZ.  (If they're still in business, they need to at least move beyond 2002!).  I poked around some more and found another reference to WSMZ.  Then I went to the WSMZ web site (wsmz.com), which is obsolete as well.  Then, I did a FM query on the FCC web site for OH stations on 103.1.  Compared locations of stations that came up against OH maps, and found that Johnstown is just NE of Columbus.  Drilled down further in the query and came up with the call letter change which was either in May or July of last year...don't have the screen up anymore to verify exact date.

 

I do a lot of research on radio station calls and frequencies from the past, so I've gotten accustomed to ferreting out info.  It does seem like finding the info you're looking for is harder than most.  The only thing I can figure is that minor league baseball broadcasting is a tenuous year-by-year relationship.  Its a lot easier for the majors.

 

Keep asking, and I'll probably keep finding.

It looks like another edition of "I dare you to find us."  WSMZ/103.1 is now WVKO.  It is in Johnstown, just northeast of Columbus.  Their web site says they broadcast Clippers games, BUT it is still a WSMZ web site, so it may be obsolete.  Results somewhat inconclusive.
