As a reminder/primer, here is what Sirius Canada
says will be added to their line-up in the way of
Canadian content. These channels are to be heard
throughout North America. A new feature I had not
recalled seeing before is carriage of CBC Radio 3,
which currently is only available over the internet
(and possibly via digital radio in Canada).

-----------
"CBC/Radio-Canada’s new SIRIUS Satellite Radio Channels
SIRIUS CANADA will offer an exclusive line-up of
commercial-free Canadian content from
CBC/Radio-Canada. The new SIRIUS Canadian channels
will include CBC Radio One and Première Chaîne de
Radio-Canada.
Our satellite radio bid includes two exciting new
music channels, one French and one English, from:
BANDEAPART.FM and CBC Radio 3. Both feature a mix of
new Canadian music and emerging artists, live
concerts and studio sessions from across Canada.
Hosts for both services will play an important role,
providing their take on the Canadian music scene,
interviewing guests and introducing listeners to new
talent.
BANDEAPART.FM and CBC Radio 3 will offer new and
emerging Canadian artists significant opportunities
for exposure – not just to Canadian audiences, but
to listeners across the U.S. as well.
CBC Radio 3 will provide approximately 35 studio
sessions and 35 live venue recordings to new
Canadian talent, further increasing their exposure
to new audiences.
The new channels will be at least 80% music and more
than 50% Canadian content, creating a real appetite
for more new Canadian talent.
BANDEAPART.FM will air only original programming,
while more than half of CBC Radio 3’s programming
will be exclusive to that channel – you will not
find it on any other CBC/Radio-Canada Radio service.
BANDEAPART.FM’s programming schedule will be built
around various musical formats – from Pop, Rock and
Alternative, to Jazz, Roots and Country – ensuring
that audiences know where to turn when they want to
hear then newest talent in any given genre.
Similarly, CBC Radio 3 will allocate a two-hour
period each day to music from specific formats,
including Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Electronic, Dance,
Jazz, Roots, Folk, Country and World music.
Standard Radio’s new CANADIAN WAVE:
The service will also offer Standard Radio’s
Canadian Wave, a new channel featuring 100% Canadian
music content. Canadian Wave’s mandate is to create
the ultimate North American listening experience by
presenting
Canadian music in a new and unique format
specifically designed for satellite radio audiences.
It will be a compelling radio service that showcases
all genres of contemporary Canadian music.
Live announcers will be an integral part of Canadian
Wave. They will host Free Form, a proactive and
progressive program based on the Triple-A (Adult
Album Alternative) format with musical content
ranging from folk to aboriginal, blues, smooth jazz,
pop and rock. The personalities of Free Form will be
responsible for promoting to a whole new audience
the real Canadian musical landscape; quality
Canadian artists, songwriters and producers drawn
from all musical genres and all regions of Canada.
Canadian Wave will employ a network of dedicated
music reporters or stringers called “wave runners”.
They will provide daily updates on the Canadian
music scene, reporting on who’s recording and who’s
releasing a new CD, or who’s appearing in concert.
Each day Canadian Wave will feature six programs
dedicated to various genres of Canadian music hosted
by recognized experts. Country, Jazz, Blues, Pop,
Urban & Hip Hop and Rock will allow listeners to go
deep into these music universes providing not only
great music but also interesting and informative
background and context on the various Canadian
performers.
Each day, one hour will be set aside for exclusive
specialty programming that showcases Canadian
talent. The Deep Canadian Wave will feature
everything from intimate and interactive live
concert performances originating across Canada to
new CD release specials, a The Canadian Indie Wave
show and in-depth words and music biographies on
great Canadian performers.
SIRIUS CANADA will create the Canadian Wave Council,
an advisory board comprised of dedicated and
passionate Canadian music industry experts and
performers who will provide support, guidance and
direction to the Canadian Wave satellite channel."
