Hi Dean and Dennis:
Isn't this unit a wonder? Granted, conditions are pretty good up here
near Seattle tonight, but just tooling around with the SRF-59 for 20
minutes brought clear IDs from the following 1000+ mile stations:
- 780 WBBM Chicago, absolutely owning 780 on top of nulled KKOH in Reno
and easily fending off strong local 770-KTTH. I can even hear the low-
level on-channel grinding noise that WBBM's IBOC is putting out!
- 1500 KSTP Minneapolis in the same direction as 1510-KGA in Spokane
- 1520 KOKC OK City over blowtorch 1520-Portland and 1530-KFBK IBOC slop
- 1570 XERF Acuna, MX in the clear (no ID but I know it's them...)
- 1700 XEPE San Diego/Tijuana
- 1200 WOIA in the face of 1190-KEX IBOC splatter
- 690 XETRA Tijuana (again, no ID but it's them on top of CBU-Vancouver)
- 850 KOA Denver in local KHHO's IBOC null
It's also developmental - my thumb has rediscovered its fine motor skills
for fine-tuning, and I have been forced to memorize the band and the
sign-post stations so I know exactly where I am (who needs digital?), so
in a way this has sharpened my skills.
