Re: [IRCA] 1152 at 15:00 this morning

Thanks for pointing that out Chuck. Your contributions are always helpful.

It is difficult to keep track of all these, as the Grayland Master Log references only two loggings of 558 in 20 years, the last in 2013. I wasn't aware it had been logged so frequently since then, hence my use of the adjective "rare" on the coast. I think we had more than two loggings of 558 from the infrequent visits to Jordan River in the 80s, plus the logging in town using the laughable tuned loop. 558 has not particularly become a more difficult frequency here, and the Flags and SDR techniques are a great improvement on what I was using then.

1152 is an interesting addition in recent years, as I know Bill has logged it at least 3 times in that period. That wasn't heard in earlier years to my recollection, though may be the product of our Drift Net DXing techniques using SDRs.

1269 I'm afraid is the stuff of legend in any references I can find right now, as is "etc". I know Patrick Martin heard 6XM-1188 a number of years ago, and it was heard once at Sans Souci in 2013.

I like Walt's idea of a coastal reference. Do I like it enough to do the work? We'll see. The Grayland Master Log is certainly an excellent starting point.

best wishes,

Nick

Nick must have missed my post about logs of Western Australia on 558, 1152, 1269, 1188 etc in the last few years.

Walt: Sorry about the sad state of the Grayland Master Log. I've done little updating of it since we stopped having group DXpeditions to Grayland about 6 years ago.

Chuck

I know that the ABC W. Australia stations on 531 and 558 have been
heard in Victoria using an unamplified tuned box loop antenna
(indoors; predates computers obviously, but within living memory),
but neither are heard now, and even on the coast are rare.

But Bill Whitacre has heard 1152 in the last
year: http://realmonitor.com/am_logs_grayland12.php
also hearing BBC, so unless someone else on that channel has started
BBC broadcasts...

best wishes,

Nick
