Re: [IRCA] Some auroral unIDs - Spanish

Thanks to all who commented re the 790 being Catholic. I don't imagine there is anything IDable there, but I do see going through lists such as WRTH and online ones, to see if there are any Catholic-formatted stations, such as there's EWTN in the U.S. So I suspected - but now thanks to your help know for sure what I'm dealing with. Thank you, as well, for comments regarding 1130 Radio Ideal Venezuela and and 1550 Radio El Sol Colombia, confirming what I was almost certain I'd heard. I heard the IDs, but these seemed quickly spoken and I was slightly hesitant to log them. Both have been previously heard here, but not for many, many years. Regarding 780, I am sure I heard "Mexicana" in the recording made on my s.w. wire. Venezuela was indeed strong on my s.e. wire. I have multiple clips of 780, so I'm going to go over them all again to make sure I didn't inadvertently post the wrong one. Still going through clips. I have quite a few. I've nabbed 1420 WAOC in St. Augustine FL.!
I knew ESPN was in, that's why I taped. I figured it was probably WAOC as there aren't many candidates. It took a half dozen listen-throughs but caught call letters ... "Mike and Mike in the morning on 1420 WAOC..." The ESPN programming itself was loud, but by the time the ID was rolling around the station faded. Luckily not totally. Of course it then resurfaced to the top. There have been some disappointments, of course. I was recording unattended for a few hours - we had non-DXing company - so every 20 minutes or so I'd excuse myself, park on a different channel, and record. I found huge Latin music on 1110 and left it. My recording reveals this was bumper music for a talk program on WBT. There is a faint Spanish station underneath but too weak to bother with. This is why I want a Perseus... Again, thanks to those who listened and commented! Saul > From: lawendel@xxxxxxxxx

There might be a "venezuelanos" around 01:34 and the accent would match too IMHO. Sounds like a social topic talk (quality of life at the beginning). No announcement that I can hear sofar, you could try and submit it to the "Real DX" yg if you haven't done it already. Amazing conditions, anyway, wish we had them for Africa here. Congrats!
