The Station All Australia Knows
____________________________

Former Sydney radio station 2UW was once the only station
broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout Australia
according to the latest in the popular series of Long Lost Australian
Radio Stars hosted by the Radio Heritage Foundation at
www.radioheritage.net.

Relaunched in April 1995 as Mix 106.5 FM,, the original radio 2UW was
established in 1925 and was known for 'the very best in music, the
cream of dramatic entertainment, fast moving quiz programs and
fifteen of the most popular radio serials on the air' and served
listeners far beyond the Sydney region.

It's popular 'Theatre Beautiful' was opened in 1942 and each year
more than 120,000 people were guests of 2UW and its sponsors at
regular music and community events.

This is a fascinating feature about one of the greatest Australian
radio stations when it was at it height of popularity in the late
1940's, an era that has long gone but which has left enduring
memories in the minds of millions of Australians today.

This new release brings to over thirty the number of such features
currently included in the Long Lost Australian Radio Stars series at
www.radioheritage.net where an increasing amount of Australian radio
heritage can now be found.

If you have your own memories, memorabilia and more you'd like to
share about 2UW Sydney or any of the other stations featured in the
series, the Radio Heritage Foundation wants to hear from you.

It may be some old photos, booklets, newspaper or magazine articles
or even some recordings. Memories of listening to 2UW over the years
are also important and wanted because they help people understand the
important community role played by 2UW over several generations.

The Radio Heritage Foundation is a registered non-profit organization
connecting popular culture nostalgia and radio heritage across the
Pacific and its website is www.radioheritage.net where full contact
details can be found. Email: info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
