My ewes are seasonally strung and ground cdx are consistent.  I use a pot to
set resistance, measure resistance, and then replace the pot with 4
paralleled 1/2 watt non-inductive resistors that equal the target
resistance.  I was concerned with humidity affecting the pot.  Seems to work
fine for me.
