Bob,
In this day if all DX Tests were done using regular programming with no
code or tones, we would not hear many DX tests. We have to change with
the times. Gone are the days of clear channels with everyone going off
at Midnight. So the engineer probably feels that DXing in USB or LSB is
probably cheating too.
You can't please everyone....
