Re: [IRCA] 1450 UNID- 1450 in general from this QTH

If KTIP ever went classical, the good old boys would cruise down to the station and pepper it with buckshot, assuming they could get their pickups running.  That's still Buck Owens country there!

Hi Tim and all,
Well, it's good news that KFSD's a possibility. Since not many AM stations are classical, they kind of stick out amidst other programming- as subtle as they can be sometimes.  You know, I guess Porterville is farther south than I thought... I was thinking it was probably around the same latitude as Reno instead of Las Vegas.  Still, it seems like a pretty big gap down to Escondido.  Anways, definitely classical music for quite a while, waxing and waning for about 20 minutes or so.  Loop direction was correct for S. California.

I only recently caught KTIP Porterville for the first time -maybe I just haven't spent enough time on 1450, but it has in well like you said.  I can get enough off-set from my Kiwa to go around KLZS Eugene and KFLS Klamath Falls (ESPN) hasn't been much of a threat lately.

In any case, by staying on one frequency for days at a time, I'm using a DXing tool I call my "attrition technique", hi.  Two modified definitions I like:
1. A gradual diminution in number of (un-heard stations) because of constant stress.
2. A gradual, natural reduction of (un-heard stations), as through retirement, resignation, or death (hi).

KFSD is a possibility - their format is classical and I have logged them from Northern California (or maybe even Southern Oregon, I can't remember right now) during auroral conditions.  KTIP generally gets out better than KFSD - I've logged KTIP as far away as Lake Yellowstone, WY.   73, Tim

Hi Folks,
OK...   This one has me messed up.   Classical music on 1450. (not to be confused with the NOS "Class 1450" of KLZS in Eugene, OR -40 miles away.)  It's been fairly consistant in the background for the last ten minutes.  I doubt I'll nail this one down as for the last two days on 1450 I haven't heard any ID's at all, with maybe the exception of KTIP. KFSD, Escondido is listed as Classical, but I seriously doubt that.  Any changes I missed?
