Well, if not light at the end of the tunnel, certainly a bit of 
audio.   Some DU and Asian signals were in evidence from 1300 to 
after 1400UT, then there was a bit of a DU lift about 20 minutes 
before local sunrise at 1600UT.


pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, 
at least briefly):

774 JOUB man in Japanese 1340UT, reached this level briefly



Reasonable audio  at  times during the period (much of it 
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

612 4QR woman in DU English, and into male country vocal with a 
distinctly Aussie accent, 1540UT.




not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or 
noise could be understood by a native speaker:

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be 
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in 
talk or music)

594 country music mixing with Japanese sounding talk 1350UT, no ABC

738 man talking, DU English inflection 1540UT, not //612
