Re: [IRCA] Alaska

I know its not the same, but I wish I could get enough of a noise-free environment so that I could at least record it and send you an MP3.  I strung cables across the floor between my S350 and my computer, but I was still picking up noise off the cables.  I can't even go outside and sit down while listening tonight...humidity is up and I left the plastic chairs out.  They're dripping wet.

I have checked back on 650 several times, and that axis rotation has been for the most part XETNT.  My highlight for the night so far is my second-time-only reception of WJR/760.  Midnight Trucking Network show coming in well under KFMB, but I only have about 15-20 degrees of rotation to get it.  KFMB swallows up the rest.

I have heard one TA, and it seemed to be perfect luck at the time.  Way back when I was in high school in the Bay Area, I used to sit with a friend in the car, sip cheap wine until I was near the danger point, and either listen to KDIA Blues Hour (on the right night) or just tune around and see what I found.  One night, reception was outstanding.  I was listening to WCBS/New York and there was a howl.  Hearing NYC from SFO on a car radio was pretty cool all by itself.  We listened for about 90 minutes, mostly on that frequency.  It turned out that I was hearing a play on BBC/Scotland.  It was either on 881 or 882.  That was the only TA I ever heard.

Yeah, I'm going to print a T-shirt that says "I hate Mike!" and below that, my radio with an axe in it...ha ha ha.  Good for you though, and for catching KBBI also.  Having WLS off didn't help me, hi.

I flipped that I got audio on 1323 and actually heard the programming. I've been switching between 650, 1215 and 1314.  1323 seems to be mostly gone now. 1215 and 1314 hets are rising and falling.   650 seems a little strange tonight with KSTE fading out occasionally. CISL seems stronger than usual.  Still, the noise floor seems to always be high for me on this freq.

Don't give up on TA's quite yet. I relegated my possibility of catching one to "never in a million years".      My brother did drop my portable AM radio years ago, and he thought he had a TA. Turns out, the drop messed things up and he was getting Radio Nederland. ha ha ha !!! He was sure disappointed.  I've remembered the 1314 frequency for 25 years and maybe even 891, but I never thought I'd catch 1323 first.

Doug Pifer...you're gonna hate me!

Weak KENI ID noted after weather forecast at 2307 PT.  KBBI/890 is coming in tonight when KDXU fades...roughly the same angle as far as my S350 is concerned.  They were noted at 2315.

Sure wish I could play that TA game.  I had a weak het on 1323 at 2305 but there's nothing to get a hold of.  1314 is out of the question for me.
