Re: [IRCA] E-Mail Lists & The Future of the Hobby

I'm a member of both clubs but I vote against merger talk between the IRCA and NRC. In a sense it's already a moot point, a dead issue, as the NRC BOD would never allow a merger.

I've been silent until now concerning the ongoing NRC membership melt down. I unsubscribed from the NRC e-list a few days ago because I could no longer tolerate the snide, disrespectful comments coming in an indirect manner from the BOD.

As has already been stated the IRCA BOD operates in an open democratic manner and responds to suggestions from membership. This is the American way of government even if it is basically no longer practiced at any level of government in the U.S.

The NRC BOD operates like a military junta, where a small inner circle controls everything and makes all decisions, some bad ones at that. The membership is allowed no real input or dissent and exists only to supply dues monies (taxes), very un American. Basically the NRC BOD consider themselves to be "the club" and the rest of us are just idiots or pheasants. The NRC e-list is being nixed to end public dissent against the said entrenched and intransigent BOD.

The new e-DX News board will be strictly controlled and no dissent will get published. I'm not thrilled with e-boards as they can be difficult to navigate but the NRC e-DX News is a nice compliment to the printed version and an example of a good NRC BOD idea. But it does not and cannot replace the soon to be defunct e-list, an example of a bad NRC BOD idea.

NRC BOD recent actions has demonstrated that the same stuff that was going on in 1964 and caused a split in membership and birth of the IRCA is still happening. I think the best method of attack is for all BOD dissenting NRC members to drop NRC membership and join the IRCA or stay only with the IRCA.

I'm on my third one year membership since 1984 and it will be my last, three strikes and you are out. But I personally holds no animosity or ill will against the NRC BOD. I join radio clubs for fun and camaraderie not information. I personally do not need in any information from any clubs but do enjoy reading it. There is a camaraderie in the IRCA and ABDX but not the NRC.

In the past discussings. Hardly no one was ever interesting in any type
of merger with the NRC. The IRCA broke away in 1964. The IRCA is very
free thinking club. We like it that way too.
