Re: [IRCA] Kenwood R-2000 vs 5000

I owned an R-2000 back in the 1980's. On MF it had too much sensitivity and low dynamic range and overloaded with big antennas. However I put a preselector in line (an old Grove TUN-4) and the rig became a real DX machine. The R-5000 was a better receiver with higher dynamic range so did not overload as easily. The down side of the R-5000 was the poor stock Murata AM filter. From memory the R-5000 had the receiver of the amateur radio transceiver TS-430.

Dear Mike in St Isidore AB,

Haven't tried eBay. Not going to try eBay soon, either. And don't anyone
ask me why. You know us Southern types. May just go berserk and shoot up
the countryside. Try another Secession from the Union. Anyway, if I
participated in an another uprising, it'd go to Holyoke in a Hurry
because I'd introduce so much confusion. States Wrongs.

Come to think of it, that could be a good thing. Maybe Washington would
treat me as a vanquished warrior, give me lots of foreign aid, let me
have my own new ITU callsign prefix, issue my own licenses [amateur,
auto, gun, dog, fishing].

Just take two Aspirin and call me in the morning.

Charles
