Barry - the memory battery contact problem is common in the Sony ICF-2001D (ICF-2010 on this side of the pond). Of my numerous radios the ICF-2010 is the best on MW but I seldom use it, mainly because of its size. I bought a couple of short books about the 2001D/2010 from one of your fellow countrymen and I think it has some info about how to fix the problem. I'll try to find it.

Sony stopped selling them a few years back but they are still highly in demand and would bring quite a good price. My advice is to keep it and try to fix the battery problem. I'll see what I can come up with to help.

Hi Dennis
I was pleased to read your feedback. In all these years I assumed it was my rough handling that had broken the memory battery compartment contacts. If you can find a cure I would be glad to hear about it. I had thoughts of a "fix-a-uppa"  exterior battery compartment strapped to the radio's case?
