[IRCA] COAX Question

I have a RF Systems Magnetic Longwire Balun (MLB) and whenever I constructed
my antenna, I soldered the center conductor and the shielding to a lug and
attached it to the Balun and I also soldered the center conductor and the
shielding to the antenna. I have read that attaching the shielding will
reduce the signal strength. Will I see a significant difference if I redo
both connections and just solder the center connector to the lug that feeds
in to the Balun and the antenna? Also, will this have an impact on noise? I
find the current setup very noisy.
Bert
