Patrick,
There is a group of stations operated by the Oregon Department of
Transportation, operating on 1650 kHz, in the area you are referring to,
and may be what you are hearing. All have the call sign WPZQ660 and are
located in the following areas:
Astoria US 101 at US 30
Florence US 101 at ODOT Florence Maintenance Yard
Grand Ronde OR 18 at OR 22 Junction
Lincoln City US 101 at OR 18
Seaside US 101 at US 26
Tillamook US 101 at ODOT Tillamook Maintenance Yard
There is a second group, also on 1650 kHz, with a collective call
sign of WPZS256. They are located in the following areas: Bandon, Coos Bay,
Corvalis, Newport, Reedsport, and Venta.
