This is an interesting (albeit somewhat off-topic) thread so I think
it's worth keeping.
It will be interesting to see how all this shakes out, because I am in
the class of people who are not interested in spending any more for
access to high-definition TV than I am already for low-definition
analog TV.
To me, it's mostly garbage anyway. High definition garbage is worth
no more to me than analog garbage.
I own no HDTVs today...will probably own one by next February but
won't guarantee it.
It will be interesting to see what sorts of packages and tiers get
offered in this new digital-only world, and what sort of international
options are included.
I agree with most everyone else that it seems a shame that so few
appear to be interested in these alternative perspectives and
viewpoints.
I remember walking into a produce store here in Allentown a couple
years ago that was run by people of Lebanese heritage. They had a TV
mounted over some of the shelves, and it was tuned to Euronews. The
owner stated how he couldn't stand news from domestic USA sources
because of the parochial views taken by those sources, and he was
willing to pay for satellite infrastructure to get Euronews.
