Times have changed and even with my Icom R75 and a
good antenna I cannot receive the good international news programs that I used
to anymore on a consistent basis. Now, with Roadrunner Lite (787 kbps) and my
laptop with Windows XP Media, I can consistently receive the BBCWS, DW, RTE,
CBC, and many many music streams from around the world. I transmit from my
laptop all over the house to my FM radio/stereo with a modified CCrane FM
transmitter. Yes, I still listen to the BBC on 9660, Radio Australia on 9580,
and RNW on 11675 in the morning, but for shear convenience you cannot beat
listening over the internet.
