Sergei, you're correct.

I work in the IT industry, and my guess is that people associated the
computer more with the "Thinkpad" name than the IBM name -- at least
in laptops.

It will be interesting to see if they're able to hold on to the loyal
customers who have always stuck to the IBM/Thinkpad brand.
