Good points, Peter; but I think our comments sort of miss hitting each
other head on. My intent was to point out that there is no "free"
broadcasting in fact--and I should have added government supported
public to commercial in my statement. Arguably, once one gets past
whether they will *choose* to pay for satellite (I do recognize your
point), the "active subscriber" would appear to have greater influence
over what is offered by the provider than the "passive subscriber" we
all are to commercial and government-supported public radio.
Ultimately, he or she can choose simply not to pay.
He or she doesn't get that chance as a passive subscriber.
