Re: [Swprograms] OT: Howard Stern to Sirius

Just for the record...

Sirius reported a month ago that it had passed the 600,000 sub mark and expects to reach its 1 million sub target by the end of the year. It claims its NFL package, which now also offers a "Sportster" receiver that can be set to automatically notify the subscriber when his/her favorite team is "on"--presumably both game and conversation on the dedicated 24/7 NFL talk stream, has registered a boost to their subscriber growth rate numbers.

Having said all that, 2006 is a long way off... :-))

From the Wall Street Journal.

Move is slated to happen in 2006.

Stern will be paid both in cash and stock; additional stock payouts to be made if subscriber targets met

Sirius cautioned that not reaching subscriber targets could have material negative effects on its financial performance.

Upside for Sirius is an increased cut of advertising revenues if subscriber targets are met.

As of 6/30/04 Sirius had 480,341 subscribers -- up 37% from the 3/31/04 level.
