extends to Infinity

Infinity Broadcasting yesterday joined its major national radio rival,
Clear Channel, in planting a foot deeper into the Spanish-speaking
radio market.
It's hardly coincidence that these two giants, the largest radio
station owners in the U.S., are thinking it's time to court the
country's fastest-growing audience.
"They can read the census reports," says Tom Taylor, editor of the
trade sheet Inside Radio. "This is a very important market for
everyone in media."
Infinity's move came through its parent company, Viacom, which
basically traded San Francisco station KBAY (93.3 FM) to Spanish
Broadcasting System (SBS) for a 10% stake in SBS.
The motivation for the deal is clear on both sides.
Viacom gets into the Hispanic market through one of its two biggest
radio companies, and SBS can tap into Infinity's huge resources as it
duels with the other Hispanic radio giant, Univision.
