Conditions weren't all that bad for April. The bottom of the band was a
total bust, with weak audio on 693 747 and 774. VOA-1575 was impressive
for a few minutes today. There was no clear enhancement, except for VOA
which had a very pronounced boost in strength at sunrise.
GOOD
972 HLCA 1257 phone conversation in Korean, man & woman in studio,
man at other end. Still producing audio 1347
1566 HLAZ, 1245 two women conversing in Japanese, possibly a radio drama
1575 VOA, 1314-1329 excellent at times with SEA language, English
IDs 1330, Yankee Doodle, then jingle ID and start of Khmer program,
significantly weaker after that, gone by 1335
FAIR
750 KFQD, 1306 ID & local news under KXTG, not nearly as good as
yesterday
POOR
693 JOAB, bits of talk in the splatter 1247
747 JOIB, 1311 Japanese male and female talk, sounded more like
language lesson rather than the weather report that has been on NHK2 at
this time
774 JOUB, 1244, male & female voices, sounded like language lesson
981 CNR1, 1251, Chinese talk
1170 KBS time pips during pause in KPUG audio 1300
1206 Yanbian, 1344 noisy carrier on 1205.96, woman talking with
Korean-like inflections
CARRIERS
738 828 945 1035 1053 1323 1422 1494 1503 1557 1593
