Thanks Russ.I do not like the light from CFLs. I tried a couple. The early ones were noisy and I have not bought any since. I probably have enough to last me the rest of my life anyway. But if the neighbors start using more of them (CFLs), I was just wondering the noise issue, but I presume most have changed by now anyway.

The best example I can give is with a gooseneck lamp I have. The LED bulb came out beyond the "shroud" and blinded you to look at it. It also is so heavy, it actually pulled the gooseneck lamp over. The bulb also can get very hot in the base where the circuitry is.

My current strategy is to keep the radio room forever with incandescents and in fixtures elsewhere that cannot support the length and weight of LED bulb.

Anyway, there are quite a few different ones. The LED ones have come down in price. Are the LED ones noise free? Anyone try them? Thanks. I am preparing myself on what is coming down the pike after the first of the year when most will switch. I wonder if there will be more noise issues?
