[IRCA] TP 23 Oct, Victoria version

Mostly top tier, and erratic again, but the recording yielded some oddments.....and a touch of HLCA audio to within minutes of 1600UT http://www3.telus.net/public/shallpat/listen/HLCA972_20131023_1555.wav 75 minutes after local sunrise. It's starting to make sense to leave the recorder running long after I've gone to work, it seems. At various times, frequencies such as 1575 1566 1323 1287 972 945 and 747 (maybe 1242 and 774 as well) seem to be showing signs of life.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK woman in JJ 1357UT, after being MIA before; this lasted until after the pips and NHK ID on the hour, and was not just the best audio on the dial at the time, it was the only audio. 1566 HLAZ man in JJ 1333UT, and not much less strength at 1441UT w/man in CC, and even reasonable audio at 1540UT, man in CC 1575 VoA rising to this strength w/man in SE Asian language at 1441UT, best on N. Flag

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

774 JOUB CC (I think) lessons 1411UT
828 JOBB CC lessons 1332UT
972 HLCA woman in KK 1429UT, and as heard above, not too unreasonable at 1555UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

738 presumably Tahiti w/woman and man in FF 1320UT
1053 S. Korea jamming away 1345UT
1287 JOHR man and woman in JJ 1451UT
1323 CRI chimes and fanfare 1500UT, also woman and man talking 1543UT, then faded up to mx at this same level

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

567 JOIK? woman talking, JJ inflection 1324UT; no 594 at this time
891 JOHK pan pipe like mx //594 1425UT
945 CNR1? woman talking CC inflection 1539UT
1017 CRI woman talking, could have been KK 1453UT, chimes and fanfare at 1500UT barely there

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

837 918 837 1251 1422

best wishes,

Nick
