[IRCA] Grand and Glorious TP DX for Oct 6

After four days of mediocrity, the TPs came through in a huge way today. It was probably my best morning of the season in terms of high quality DX, and it took quite a bit of time to go through the SDR recording.

Highlights included hearing NHK1 on 963 with no sign of CRI, JOWF-1440 completely overpowering the domestics, and an AFN station mixing with VOA-1575. Some other seldom-heard Japanese were also evident, including 909 1296 and 1449. I also had what I assume was Taiwan on 1557 coming in quite well.

The DX was almost all Japan today, with 1593 being the only Chinese logging of the morning. It was as though someone had put up an electromagnetic shield across the China Sea. The usual three South Koreans were doing about average today, as was VOA 1575. I checked for Alaskans but didn't hear any.

Good, most or all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least for a minute or so
594 JOAK time pips & what sounded like news 1300, much better 1307 w/talk
693 JOAB, 3+1 pips & start of wx 1300, peaking quite nicely 1315, beautiful ID 1320 into JJ talk pgm 747 JOIB, string mx 1259, pips at TOH, then wx report, quite good, still there 1400 w/man talking across ToH (No pips) 774 JOUB, loud w/wx report 1310, local ID good 1320. Also good w/EE lesson 1331, woman talking about the Silk Road (the original one that traversed Asia, not the website that was busted last week).
972 KBS, the usual lively discussion 1318
1287 JOHR, loudest it's been in ages w/string of ads 1358, chime at ToH, then group of young cheerful women talking 1440 JOWF, totally overwhelming the domestics w/lively discussion 1357, woman mentioned "STV" 1358, 1359 ads, chime at ToH, then more lively discussion
1503 JOUK nice w/pips 1400, quite strong by 1408 w/male talk
1557 TAIWAN, presumed with lively pop tunes 1355-1410+ nonstop except for 3+1 pips & brief Chinese anmt by woman at 1400. Still going strong when the recording ran out at 1410. 1566 HLAZ, JJ preacher good 1255, otherwise fair-poor in the splatter today 1575 VOA dominant with man & woman in SEA language 1400, "This is AFN" ID in background followed by what sounded like network news
1602 NHK synchros, surprisingly good w/JJ talk 1409

Fair, some of it would be understandable by a native speaker
567 JOIK male talk //594 1309
828 JOBB, weather // 774 etc 1305, local ID 1320
1053 jammer 1400
1134 lively JJ talk 1349
1422 JORF, JJ talk 1406

Poor, recognizable program content but that's about it
666 JOBK, male talk in splash //594 1306
702 Bits of talk in KIRO splat, possibly //693 but not sure 1340
739 JOCK faint talk //594, then weak time pips 1300
837 JOQK, final tone of the time pips 1400, nothing else heard
891 JOHK, same as 837
909 JOCG, JJ talk ///774 1359-1402
954 JOKR, occasional syllables breaking through the KJR splash 1350
963 NHK1, time pips 1400, then traces of talk, eventually fading up to language recognition level 1403 // 567 (594 was too weak to produce audio by then). A huge surprise with no sign of the usual CRI!
1161 Chimes and very weak talk 1400, Taiwan suspected
1188 Partial NHK time pips 1400, then bits of talk, lots of KEX splash
1242 weak JJ talk 1350
1296 JOTK, same as 837
1386 JJ talk //747 1405
1449 Chime and JJ talk //1287 1400
1494 faint talk, JJ-like inflections 1409
1593 CNR1, CC man & woman, then time pips 1400 good signal but heavy 1590 splat
