Welll, Gary said
It was a pretty strange morning overall, and I'll be interested in
your results
so here they finally are. Hearing CNR1 from Victoria in early to
mid September is strange, but that's what was happening. And really,
there was a pronounce slant towards Korea and China . Having said
that, an unID JJ on 864 was often stronger than the NHK2 "big"
guns. The band seemed to tap out above 1100kHz, and never really
developed. Peak, probably between 1310 and 1325UT? Lots of splatter
meant than some strong carriers didn't develop any audio (and
strangely a bit of DU evidence before 1300UT also)
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
972 HLCA woman in KK 1321, best signal of the morning
1053 KK jammer 1322UT
1566 HLAZ woman in JJ 1326UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
594 JOAK man in JJ 1317UT
774 JOUB man w/wx reports 1309UT
864 unID JJ....woman in JJ 1314UT, eventually developed into a jazzy
male/female number 1323UT
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
189 R. Rossii woman in RR and relaxed instrumental mx 1318UT
603 western style vocal mx 1315UT, earlier had been mixing with a man
and woman talking, but too weak for language ID
639 CNR1 woman talking CC, man on phone or some sort of remote, ID'd
by //756 and 981 1316UT
828 JOBB man w/wx report 1302UT
891 ? man in KK?? certainly not JJ (and not //594) 1320UT, but didn't
quite seem right for KK? Really tough vs. 890 splatter presumably
KBBI with an intense lady discussing Syria.
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music) :
567 man talking perhaps DU EE, 1250UT
612 woman and man talking, DU EE inflection, 1332UT
747 JOIB EE lessons 1328 //774
756 CNR1 woman and man talking //639 and lagging slightly 1316UT
936 Anhui? woman then man talking CC inflection 1319UT
981 CNR1 woman and man talking //639 and lagging slightly 1316UT
1017 CRI? woman talking, could have been KK 1314UT
1287 two men talking JJ inflection , 1327UT
1323 woman talking 1324UT, too much crud to guess at language
1575 VoA? woman talking SE Asian language? 1306UT
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter):
558, 621, 675 rough carrier, 738, 837, 873, 882, 918, 945, 1008, 1035
rough carrier, 1143
best wishes,
Nick
