[IRCA] Yachats DX Report - Monday & Tuesday

I've enjoyed reading the reports from Gary, Walt and the others for their respective DXpeditions. Here's a brief summary of what's been heard so far here in Yachats. The others may chime in later with their own observations.

Monday was not particularly great, and certainly not as impressive as what Gary received farther up the coast. The bottom of the band was mostly dead below about 800. The antenna and possibly conditions favored New Zealand stations, including 909 1008 1035 1098 1179(with nice "Ake" ID) 1215 1296 1386(in Hindi) 1593(in Samoan) and maybe a few others. Some Aussies were doing OK as well: 792 828 891 1548 and a few X-banders. Three Hawaiians: 900 940 and 1110. A few other so-far unid DUs on other channels. One big surprise: KDLG-670 Dillingham AK atop KBOI at 1200. Tahiti and Tonga were both in early, around 0500-0600 or so, and doing reasonably well at times.

During the day Monday, the antenna was re-aimed slightly farther west and changed from a double Kaz to a single, larger loop. The results this morning were much better. Tahiti and Tonga were both in starting around 0500+ again. The X-band was hopping with carriers on every 9 kHz split, and audio on most of them. Definite Hindi on 1701.

KUAU-1570 was huge with ID at 1100. Other Hawaiians were noted on 760 830 900 990 1420 and 1500.

Several Asians were noted fair-weak today: 972 1134 1242 1287 and 1566. There may have also been a couple more.

There were carriers present on just about all 9 kHz splits. Many had audio, including 531 603 639 657(good NZ) 684 702(Aussie) 738(Aussie) 747 756 765(NZ) 774(Aussie quite strong) 792(Aussie) 801 819 828(Aussie) 837 846 855 882 891(Aussie) 909(NZ) 918 927 954 963 981(NZ //657/909) 1008(NZ) 1017 1026 1035(NZ) 1098 1107 1116 1125 1161 1179 1206 1215 1233(Aussie?) 1251 1278 1296 1341 1386(NZ) 1404 1422(possibly Japan) 1449 1458(NZ?) 1467 1476 1494 1512 1548(Aussie) 1566 1575 1584 1593 1602. We'll probably ID a few more once we go through our recordings. Judging from Walt's report, we'll need to listen to the 1602 recordings for NZ content.
