[IRCA] TP's & DU's for Saturday, September 15, 2012

Listened from 1206-1350 utc. Long wave signals were strange this morning. 180 was better on the SW ewe, 189 on the HPAW and 153 & 279 on the NW ewe. First timer this season JOLF 1242 had a better signal on the SW ewe. Korea on 972 seems to be a regular here, able to push past the KUFO splatter from 970. TP's hung around latter than usual and dominating the channels that they share with the DU's. Only a couple DU channels this morning. HLAZ 1566 had a level 2 het at 1429 utc. Things can just get better as the season continues. 

153     RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1206 fair signal with woman/man in Russian. NW ewe. 

180     RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1209 poor signal with man in Russian. SW ewe.

189     RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1210 fair signal with man in Russian. HPAW.

279     RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1211 very poor signal with bits of audio coming through. NW ewe. Weak at 1252 with woman in Russian.

567     JAPAN, JOIK NHK1 1254 poor signal with bits of Japanese coming through. NW ewe. 

594     JAPAN, JOAK NHK1 1241 fair signal with woman/man in Japanese. Some splatter. NW ewe.

603     REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLSA 1242 very weak signal with talk. NW ewe.

639     CHINA? CNR1? 1224-1227 very poor signal briefly with music. NW ewe.

657     DPR OF KOREA, 1319 fair signal with man in Korean and // 3250. NW ewe.

666     JAPAN, JOBK NHK1 weak signal with woman/man in Japanese and // 594. NW ewe.

693     JAPAN, JOAB NHK2 1257 very weak signal in PP with heavy splatter. Fair signal at 1321.

729     Level 5 het 1228. This het has been rising in strength the past few weeks. NW ewe.

738     TAHITI, Radio Polynesie 1336 atop channel with woman in French.

738     AUSTRALIA, 2NR 1338 believed the station mixing with Radio Polynesie with DU accented English. Weak signal on SW ewe. 

747     JAPAN, JOIB NHK2 1244 fair signal with man in Japanese. Moderate splatter from 750. NW ewe

774     JAPAN, JOUB NHK2 1229 good signal with Classical music. 1230 woman in Japanese. NW ewe. Great signal at 1245.

828     JAPAN, JOBB NHK2 1231 fair signal and // to 774 with man in Japanese. NW ewe.

864     UNKNOWN, 1324-1331 very weak signal in Asian language. Not DPRK as program did not match // 2850. Moderate splatter from KPAM.

873     JAPAN, JOGB NHK2 1303 very weak signal with man in Japanese. NW ewe.

891     AUSTRALIA, 5AN & 4TAB 1332-1334 both in with woman reading news on 5AN and man talking on 4TAB. SW ewe.

972     REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLCA 1232 fair signal with music and Korean talk. Moderate splatter for 970 KUFO. NW ewe.

1053    REPUBLIC OF KOREA, 1307 jammer with fair signal. NW ewe.

1206    CHINA, 1308-1309 very weak signal with some Asian language audio coming through. NW ewe

1242    JAPAN, JOLF NBS 1245-1248 steady weak signal with man/woman in Japanese. SW ewe. First time this season.

1566    REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLAZ 1248 good signal with Japanese. Not heard during broadcast to China. NW ewe. het still around at 1429 utc.

1575    THAILAND, VOA 1235 weak signal with woman in Lao (PALs). NW ewe.

1593    CHINA, CNR1 1250 weak signal with woman in Chinese. // 6030 Shortwave broadcast.
