Getting into the discussion late, but I entered my formerly paper-only logs into Excel a few years years ago.  Initial log-taking in front of the radio is still pen-and-paper, but the permanent entries are in Excel.  I have separate Excel  files for SW (which is a mixture of broadcasters, utes and hams), longwave beacons, BCB (and the few Euro longwave broadcasters I've logged), TV and FM.

Let me know when someone invents the RF-less computer so that I can upgrade from my RF-free notebook in which I record each DX catch as it occurs.

I still count only recorded-to-tape catches, not heard-only ones. I've designated a page for each frequency (including freqs between the NA 10 kHz standard) and write down callsign, city of license, date and time heard. A separate sheet serves as an index for the taped catches, and I add frequency and sequence number to each listing on it -Paul Swearingen, Topeka
