Great bandscan Stephen. It never ceases to amaze me how strong the Santa Barbara GY stations come into San Diego County. ms

S1 "faint barely perceptible" could be carrier up to program audible but isolating headphones in a quiet environment required.  S4 "fair signal" would be easy armchair copy and sufficient to trip the seek/scan on a radio.  S7 "strong signal" would be full-quieting (RF noise floor below receiver noise floor) and S9 "extremely strong" would be overloading the front end (severe blocking/desense - Tecsun DSP radio displaying 49/00 or 50/00 several channels off, or splatter - Sony SRF-M37W hearing signal just as loud 60-100+ kHz off).
