[IRCA] New filter for the Sony SRF-M37V = a new radio!

Hi all:

Acting on inspiration from Mesa Mike and Gil Stacy who put a 6.0 khz
filter in theirs, Jim Kenny and I have replaced the stock filter on our
M37V's with a 4.5 khz replacement, which he obtained through RadioLabs. 
Let me tell you - it's a new radio!

Gone are the 80-100 khz swaths of destruction laid by strong locals, which
are now kept within their 10 khz boxes even better than the Sony SRF-59. 
The selectivity champion of UltraLights, the Eton e100, is still perhaps a
hair better, but it's almost a draw depending on the situation, so the
modified M37V is clearly among the UltraLight elite now.  With its already
commendable sensitivity and above-average nulling ability, the M37V is now
a potent DXing machine, and its performance grades in the latest Gallery
have been adjusted accordingly.  If only the M37V's image problem could be
fixed...

The filter is the LTS-450GW.  The spec sheet can be seen on

I recall that someone (Mesa Mike?) reported that the next one down, the
3.0 khz model, made things too muffled, whereas this 4.5 khz version still
sounds remarkably crisp.
