sounds like you read John Bryant's  article a few months 
ago,  Pete?  (DX Monitor, June 9, 2007  -  Volume 44, Number 
28).    Seem to recall he had problems with a sealed PVC tube, and 
the Palomar falls into that category doesn't it?

Palomar brochures at the very least would be good to have on 
hand.  Good luck...
