I think y'all who are looking at WIBC's "minor lobe west" are looking at the day pattern, not the night pattern. The night pattern sends one very large lobe to the Southeast, with the highest concentration at 130 degrees, and virtually nothing to the east, west, north or south. There's a minor lobe (peaking at 263.6 mV/m) at 320 degrees, and an even lesser lobe (154.23 mV/m) at 220 degrees ... Contrast that to 2766.46 mV/m at 130 degrees.
I have not heard WIBC on 1070 here in North Texas, and in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, where I was for 30 years, WIBC past sunset was a rarity ... Memphis was the regular night visitor, Lookout Mountain next, and even KNX was heard more often in Southern Illinois than was WIBC.

Charlie,
After I read your e mail mentioning the 5KW lobe to the West, I have the
WIBC pattern here and in reality the minor lobe is more to the SW than
the West, aimed at Baja California. There is a pretty good null in my
direction WNW. I have heard WTSO WI on 1070 a few times and they are
directional to the NW. I also hear Sarnia ONT at times and they too are
directional to the NW, but in both cases there is probably enough signal
in my direction. I do fairly well with a number of Canadians that are
directional to the NW anyway. But come next Winter I will sit on 1070 a
bit more and see if I can pull in WIBC. As I mentioned, the last time I
heard WIBC was in 1965 in Seward AK. Who knows what their pattern was in
those days too.
