Re: [IRCA] San Francisco Radio Happenings

Hi Mike, I wished I had paid much more attention to ktrb than I did,
probably because when I did get it from Berkeley in 1964, it was mixed
in with k a b l, so I dismissed it, but I understand that in 1963, they
were playing everything from the bill board hot 100, and that would
have been very interesting to listen to, given what I know now. I do
remember moving to the San Joaquin valley in 1972, and hearing a Janis
Ian song on there, but I forget what it was called, but it was kind of
a come back hit for her, but it was not, fly too high. They also
carried Bill Balance's femenine forum, and Carol Benson was a signiture
news reporter there for many years, and somewhere, I have some of them
when they were broadcasting from a car rally of some sorts, and playing
oldies for one Saturday night, during their country format.

RADIO WAVES, by Ben Fong-Torres

For those interested in the radio format happenings of the San
Francisco Bay Area, this story covers not simply the activities of AM
and FM radio, but semi-interviews of and comments by the DJs that are
making things happen. In this article, Gene Nelson tells why he's back
and where he has been; "The San Francisco Sound," on KTRB, continues,
but on an abbreviated scale; and a few other interesting items. And,
no,
I'm not connected with any of the above or below, aside from growing up

listening to KTRB in my home town of Modesto, California.
