Another trick I use with Cool Edit on long recording is to trim the 
beginning of the file away, such that it starts right on the half-hour 
or hour mark... that way, I can jump by 30 or 60 minute increments on 
the time line and listen in the likely ID locations. The graphical 
picture nicely shows the silent air time that often surrounds an ID at 
the TOH,
