Re: [IRCA] Friday Morning in Boone

The weird weather this fall seems to happen only when the Seahawks play
during the week (two Monday night Football games & Thursday night had
rain snow and wind, in that order). Last night's storm was mother
nature's way of helping us forget about Thursday's game.....

Seriously, I came through the storm quite well. It was windy when I
went to bed, but aside from a very short power outage (a few seconds)
nothing unusual happened in my neighborhood. I awoke thinking the storm
had been overhyped, and headed for work at 6:45 with the idea that
things were somewhat normal. I quickly learned otherwise - I had to go
around Lake Washington because the floating bridge was closed on my
normal route across the lake, and there was no power once I got more
than 10 blocks from my house. It was rather weird driving for miles
past homes and businesses, with no lights other than those from the
other cars. I saw two places that were lit - one was a hospital and the
other was a small drive up espresso stand, both obviously on generator
power. Then I got to work and there was no power there, either, plus I
was one of the very few who made it in. I actually did get a couple of
useful things done before heading home just before noontime. By then it
was a pleasant day with blue skies. I'm taking two weeks off from work
for the holidays, so today was an interesting way of easing into my
vacation time.

I never did get around to checking the radio dial to see if any locals
were off. The biggies like KOMO & KIRO were going full bore with storm
coverage.
