[IRCA] Balcony Antennas
Eric,
When I lived in a small one bedroom apartment in Albany, CA I DX with the NRC loop. It worked great. The apartment was about 15 miles from the Golden Gate Bridge.
I was able to hear KFI LA on 640 in the daytime. Heard Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Korea, Hawaii and VOA in Okinawa. VOA in Florida. The box loop was 4' square and took up much room. A nice balcony antenna would be the High Performance active whip. The whip could be 28" and the control box could be easily hidden. The active whip has so much gain and in a urban area 28" is about all that can be used. In the country 36" is OK.
