This was an excellent, though geographically selective, opening, and I'm
surprised not to see more reports about it. I expected that it would reach
well into the midwest, but maybe the selectivity of the path was on both
ends.

Normally I don't get TA audio without a lot of tweaking and phasing, and since
my primary antenna is a high-Q tuned loop, checking for parallels is usually
very difficult. Last night, I mostly ignored the loop and just used my
outdoor dipole, and could easily flip around looking for parallels of the big
Spanish networks. I had audio from Spain on at least 15 different
frequencies, including 972 999 1107 1116 1125 1215 1224 1269 1296 1359
1413 1485 1503 1575 1584 and 1602. Many of these had multiple signals, with
synchro echo noted on several, such as 1413 and 1503. No doubt there were
more signals with audio in the lower part of the band, but it appeared to be
confined to the usual suspects (684 et al), so I didn't spend any time down
there. When the dust settled, I had 5 new stations logged (on 972, 1125,
1224, 1269, and 1296), and things were still going strong when I hit the sack
at around 0100 EDT.
