Something similar (the PCIM177 from Singapore I believe) was used here on a
TRF-655 years ago...had to use a buffer from the local oscillator to cut
down the noise from the display getting back into the radio. Also placed
the display in a separate metal box mounted to the front of the radio for
that reason. Don't know if the AADE generates noise the same way though,
but it is something to be concerned about.
If you have a very elderly DXer's Technical Guide, 2nd edition, the
information is on page 92-93, otherwise I can scan you a copy.
Hmm, even better, try IRCA reprint M-031 for the same info plus some from
Frank Aden and Bill Block. It's on Lee Freshwater's fine CD of all the
reprints.
