Patrick,
Thanks for the information about coax cable. I have one verification from Australia: 2GF 1206 kHz, Holiday Coast Radio, Grafton, NSW, Oct. 26, 1980. 3NE was heard 11-16-81 on 1566 kHz, Tonga 1017 kHz 12-26-80, Kiribati 846 kHz 2-28-81, 3GI 828 kHz 3-5-81, 1YA 756 kHz 11-28-80. 1980 and 1981 were great years for DXing. I lived in Albany, CA in a one-bedroom apartment on the second floor, about 13 miles east of the Golden Gate Bridge. Antenna was a NRC 4' loop, radio HQ-180. China on 1044 kHz was a regular, and Russia on 1476 kHz was heard often. I remember placing my Super Radio next to a steel beam at work early one morning and hearing China 1044 kHz. The solar flux on 10-9-80 was 226, A index was 14 and K was 2. Other solar flux readings for October 1980 were 259, 257, 242. Do you think that the reason down-under signals aren?t being heard as often in recent years is because the solar flux has been so low?
