Per the August 2016 PAL concerning Radio National: "The same
programming is carried throughout the country simultaneously on all
stations." Theo Donnelly and I hashed this out last April, and
concluded that RN broadcast in local time, but guess it hasn't found
its way through to PAL yet.
The Grayland files from last February had no sign of 5RN, so I
couldn't verify it then (but I suspect I should have asked you
Chuck?). But, this morning, yes, at 1330UT, there is an ABC fanfare
on 729, not as good as Colin's recording, but quite good enough for me.
I haven't heard this one at home since the 80s. Then, it was on a
tuned box loop and a homebrew receiver, so CKLG (as it was then) was
full bore, no nulling possible without mostly nulling 5RN. Happy to
repeat the exercise using the NetSDR and the Flag, even without a
full null on CHMJ (if that's what it is now).
So, nicely played Colin. Tiddling up the null does wonders.
best wishes,
Nick

In your clip, you mention waiting for an ID on the hour. This being
South Australia, you have to listen on the half hour.
