Re: [IRCA] S350 vs S350DL

Patrick,

I think you're right, everywhere I've looked the price was $99.95 or
less for the S350. Universal seems to list possibly the introductory
price to make their offer seem more of a bargain.

I found some more changes/additions to the DeLuxe version over the
original S350, bringing the list to the following:
SW/AM frequency lock to reduce drift
    FM stereo headphone output
Operates from D or AA cells
    Larger speaker
    Free padded earmuff style headphones

On the negative side I read one person's account of poor sensitivity of
"some" S350DLs compared to an S350, but a purely subjective opinion
which doesn't seem to be widely echoed.

I guess the question I'm most concerned with is how bad the S350 drift
problem is. Is it only a problem on higher SW frequencies, versus MW,
or is is bad enough to make using SSB to tune MW a nuisance.

What has been your experience?

I'm inclined to think these enhancements might be worth $50, if the
drift issue with the original S350 is serious and the sensitivity issue
with the DeLuxe version is an aberration. Now all I need is for someone
to tell me in their experience those two things are true.

Thanks,
Curt
