Re: [IRCA] Howdy

Hi all,
Here's another intoduction, I have just joined the IRCA although I've been a
member of the list for a little while now. I'm 52 have been a DXer off and
on now since I was a teenager. Started on my 1939 RCA 811K console, which I
still have and which still works incidentally. I had a lot of thrills
sitting in front of that thing, not a bad DX machine either, one of the
biggest was logging KSL in 1976-77 (forget) on my first night of medium wave
DXing, first and last time I got it here. I'm still a radio collector, both
consoles and boatanchors, as long as it has tubes in it I like it. First TA
was Germany 1593 in 1981 on a National HRO-60 with a loop. I'm also a
musician, have been playing bass for 38 years both upright and electric, do
a lot of blues, rock a billy and old rock. And just graduated from nursing
school and am looking for a job in the psychiatric field. I'm currently
using a Hammarlund HQ-180C which is a triple conversion boatanchor made
around 1960 with 18 tubes, and weighs about 40 lbs, has an analog clock that
works and has 18 knobs (and they all do something). I use both an
unamplified balanced 4' loop and a 400' LW. Nothing like sitting in front of
that radio on a cold winter night listening to RJR Jamaica, you can not only
feel the heat from the radio you can feel it from the DJ and the music.
