Ever alert for the chance to conduct a DX Test, Rene Tetro,
Chief
Engineer at WNTP 990Khz used some repairs to a relay on
the
transmitter as an opportunity to conduct a full 50KW
test!
Unfortunately, Rene wasn't able to provide a lot of advance
notice,
and with the BTC on business in the nation's capitol, a lot
of
DX'ers didn't receive word via e-mail either. For those (like
me)
who missed the test, take heart...Rene has promised future
tests
soon.
WNTP 990khz Lafayette Hill, PA DX Test Results July 28,
2005
================================================================ Another engineer, Ron Gitschier in Palm Coast, FL was
able to copy the famous
NRC sweep tones at around 12:24AM using only a Radio Shack
DX-398 and a
loop. Followed by Curt Deegan's successful reception in Boca
Raton, Florida.
Wade Smith heard the sweep tones mixing with "The Team
990" out of Montreal from
his home in New Brunswick, Neal Newman also heard
the test from his perch near
WTTM. Bob Young in Milbury, MA also managed to pull the sweep
tones out
of the noise and the voice ID that ended the test at about
12:30AM.
But there was also disappointment mixed with the joy in
Mudville. Gerry Bishop
in Niceville, Florida tried for the test, but reported too
much QRM from WNOX
and others.
A big thank you for this test to Rene and WNTP! Hope we can
count on
another one later this season. 73, |
