Each new "New Age" radio would have all standard broadcast bands -- which would include all shortwave as well as AM and NEW FM bands. A button would allow for the user to use or NOT use "Auto alert" for monitoring TIS -- on Sub-Bands (Tropical Band AM). The TIS service should NOT become a BROADCAST service within itself. Just like "Enhanced Sponsorship" for Educational stations --- ads will creep into TIS. Should Burbank or Cal-trans be allowed to sell ADS on TIS ??? Why should TIS stations remain "ON THE AIR" 24 - 7 ??? The FIRST stations all SHARED 833 Khz -- for ONLY special NEWS programs. There is a LIMIT to SPECTRUM. Someone will have to do without -- if its not SHARED. Limit TIS to "Traffic or News Alerts". Do you need to know that the airport was built in 1934 with only 5 million dollars and has 5,000 flights daily. NO Limit TIS to what it should be.
Special Stations foor security or coverage could be granted on any new band. Primary focus should be to put PUNCH back into RADIO. Preserve BOTH AM and FM radio.
