Re: [HCDX] Radio Republica 5970
Last night around 0300Z 11/16, I listened for the reported Cuban
jamming against Radio Republica on 9630 kHz.
No jamming was heard even though it easily is on other Cuban jammed
channels from MW through SW day and night, here in SE Florida. I'll
have to listen again to see if I can pick it up.
However, just after TOH there was a minute or so of open carrier
during which there was a brief fade out then back in to the original
strong level heard before TOH. When audio resumed mention of Radio
Miami International was made followed by the resumption of Radio
Republica programming. I assume facilities changes at the broadcast
site necessitated the brief TOH drop of the 9630 signal, though no
difference in it was noted following the few seconds interruption.
The following is from the RMI web site as translated by Babel Fish:
---
Schedule of Republica Radio:
Daily 1:00-3:00 a.m. hour of Miami in 9955 kHz (31 meters)
Monday through Friday 6:00-8:00 a.m. hour of Miami in 9955 kHz (31 meters)
Daily 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. hour of Miami in 9955 kHz (31 meters)
Monday through Friday 6:00-11:00 p.m. hour of Miami in 5970 kHz
(relief via overseas)
Monday through Friday 9:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. hour of Miami in 9630 kHz
(foreign relief)
Saturday and Sunday 10:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. hour of Miami in 9955 kHz (31 meters)
---
The distinction is noted between (relief via overseas) for the 5970
kHz broadcasts and (foreign relief) for the reported 9630 kHz
Sackville broadcasts -- Canada is foreign to US but not overseas,
while European locations would be overseas.
